Lesson 8 of 9
Revise your draft
Leave yourself comments, keep earlier versions, find and replace, and track your progress.
Writing is rewriting. In this lesson you'll use the tools that make revision safe and quick: comments to note what needs fixing, snapshots to rewrite boldly and still go back, find and replace to change a name everywhere, and stats to see your progress.
What you'll do
- Leave yourself comments on passages, and work through them.
- Take a snapshot before a big rewrite, and restore it.
- Find anything in your world, and replace it across a whole book.
- Read your writing stats.
1. Comment as you read
Select a passage and tap Comment on the toolbar. Write a note and tap Add. The passage is highlighted until you deal with it.

Tap a highlight (while you're not typing) to open its comment. Resolve marks it done and removes the highlight, but keeps the note, so you can Reopen it. Once a manuscript has comments, a Comments row on its page lists them all in reading order.
2. Rewrite boldly with snapshots
Mythforge keeps a copy of each scene before you change it, at most once an hour. Before a big rewrite, take your own: … (Scene details) → Snapshots → Take a snapshot, and give it a name, such as Before the rewrite.

To go back, tap a snapshot to read it, then Restore this version. The current text is kept as a snapshot first, so restoring is always safe to try.
3. Find anything
Open Search (or press ⌘ P / Ctrl P) and type. Results come in groups: Go to for names of scenes, chapters, books and lore, and In text for words inside your writing. Start with # to find pages by tag.

4. Replace across a book
Renamed a character? Open search, tap the › chevron to show Replace, type the old and new text, and choose where: This scene, Manuscript or World. Every match is listed in its scene with the change shown, so you can untick any to leave alone.

Nothing changes until you tap Replace. Afterwards Undo puts everything back, and each changed scene keeps a snapshot from before the replace. Replace never breaks a lore mention.
Two buttons in the search field make it precise: Aa matches case, and ab matches whole words only, so "Ember" skips "Emberfall".
5. Watch your progress
A world's Home tab shows today's words, the last 7 days and your streak. Tap See all for the full Stats screen: a 30-day chart, a six-month calendar, which days you write best, each manuscript's progress by chapter and status, and which lore your writing hasn't mentioned yet.

Deleting words never lowers your count, so a day of heavy revision still counts as a day's work. To set a goal that resets each day, use Settings → Writing → Daily goal.
