Focus and typewriter modes
Hide everything but your words, keep your line steady and dim the rest.
When it's just you and the next sentence, clear everything else away. Focus mode hides everything except the scene you're writing. Typewriter scrolling keeps your line steady on the screen, and Dim others fades every paragraph but the one you're in.
Focus mode
Focus mode hides the sidebar, tabs, outline, side pane, details panel and the bars at the top and bottom. What's left is the scene's title and its text.
To turn it on:
- On a phone: in a scene, tap … (Scene details) → Focus mode.
- On a wider window: choose the corners button in the scene's top bar.
- With a keyboard: press ⌥ ⇧ F (Mac and iPad) or Alt Shift F (Linux; Ctrl Alt F on Windows).
To leave it, choose Exit focus at the top of the screen (it fades until you point at it), press Esc, or press the shortcut again.
Focus mode only applies while a scene is on screen. Go to a lore entry or the manuscript and the usual layout is back. Return to a scene and you're in focus mode again, until you exit. Mythforge remembers it on each device, even after a reload.
Typewriter scrolling
Turn on Settings → Focus → Typewriter. The line you're writing then stays at the same height on the screen, a little above the middle, like paper in a typewriter. The text scrolls up as you write, instead of your eyes chasing the cursor down the page.
It works with or without focus mode. On a phone it keeps the line above the on-screen keyboard. Moving the cursor elsewhere in the text doesn't make it jump. It only follows your typing and the arrow keys.
Dim other paragraphs
Turn on Settings → Focus → Dim others to fade every paragraph except the one you're writing. It works in focus mode or out of it, while you're typing.
