Your account and signing in
Sign in with the code you were sent, stay signed in on each device, and sign out.
While Mythforge is in private beta, it opens only for people who have been invited. You sign in once on each device with your email address and a code we email you, and from then on it just opens. This guide covers getting in, staying in, signing out, and what happens if your access ends.
Your account is only a way of letting you in. It holds your email address and what you have access to, and nothing you write: your library never goes to Mythforge. See Privacy.
Getting in
- Open Mythforge. The screen is headed Sign in to Mythforge.
- Enter the email address you were invited with and choose Email me a code.
- Check your email for a six-digit sign-in code, enter it and choose Sign in.
A code works once, for 10 minutes. If it doesn't arrive, check your spam folder, then choose Send a new code. Typed the wrong address? Choose Use a different email.
On each of your devices
Sign in once on each device you write on. An iPhone's Home Screen app and Safari don't share anything, so each of them needs signing in once: do it from inside the app you'll write in. The desktop app signs in the same way.
Once you're in, you stay in on that device for a long time: Mythforge renews the sign-in each day you use it, so you shouldn't see the screen again unless something changes.
Signing out
Open Settings → Account. You'll see the name or email you're signed in with, and Sign out.
Choosing Sign out asks you to confirm. Your library stays on this device. To open Mythforge again, sign in with your email.
Signing out of Mythforge doesn't sign you out of Dropbox or Google Drive. To do that, see Sign out of a service.
If your access ends
Mythforge checks that you can come in when you open it and when you return to it. If your access has ended, or someone signed this device out, it first saves what you've written, then shows the sign-in screen instead of your library. Nothing is deleted: your words are still on the device, and signing in again brings you straight back to them.
If you're offline, Mythforge can't check, so it opens as it is. It checks again when you're back online.
If something's wrong
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Couldn't reach Mythforge. Check your connection and try again." | You're offline, or the connection dropped. Try again when you're back on. |
| No code arrives | Check spam, then Send a new code. Make sure it's the address you were invited with. |
| "That code didn't work, or it has run out." | Codes last 10 minutes and work once. Send a new one. |
| "Too many tries." | Wait a minute and try again. |
| The sign-in screen when you expected your library | Your sign-in ended or access changed. Sign in again. Your writing is intact. |
If you're stuck, Settings → About → Send feedback opens the support form (see Privacy for what it shares).
What about the desktop and iPhone apps?
The desktop app signs in exactly like the web app. The iPhone app doesn't ask you to sign in. See The desktop app and Installing Mythforge.
After the beta, what you can do is decided by the trial and unlocking Mythforge.
