Install the app
Add Mythforge to your Home Screen or desktop so it opens like an app and works offline.
Mythforge works in any modern browser, but it's at its best installed. It then opens full screen from its own icon, and it keeps working without an internet connection.
iPhone and iPad
Use Safari for this (other browsers on iOS can't add web apps in the same way).
- Open Mythforge in Safari.
- Tap Share (the square with an arrow pointing up).
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen. If you don't see it, tap View More first.
- Tap Add, then open Mythforge from your Home Screen.
Mythforge also shows these steps itself when you open it in Safari.
Android
- Open Mythforge in Chrome.
- Tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app (or Add to Home screen).
Mac, Windows and Linux
In Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install Mythforge. It then opens in its own window, and you'll find it with your other apps.
Mythforge also has a desktop app for Windows and Mac, which keeps your library as files in your Documents folder instead of in the browser. See The desktop app.
The iPhone app
Besides the Home Screen version above, Mythforge has a native iPhone app. It stores your library as files you can see in the Files app, under On My iPhone → Mythforge. Its library is separate from the Home Screen version's: to move your writing between them, use Backups and moving devices.
Updates
Installed Mythforge updates itself. When a new version is ready you'll be offered it the next time you open the app. Settings → About shows which version you're on.
